The Carpenteria Salt Marsh This is one of the bigger paintings I've done in a while. I'd love to do more large paintings but where in the world am I going to put them? I will probably tweak this one a bit before I say its finished. Going back to the Marsh three times to get this far was enjoyable. I see something new every time. Yesterday it was the outrageously beautiful sea birds that I still need to look up in the field guide. Last week I saw the large cinnamon colored fox again bouncing around in the wetlands. Once I saw a dozen four foot long sand sharks in the swimming pool clear water of the estuary. Perhaps the best thing about this place is that there is never anyone breathing down my neck. I can always paint in peace. |
