The fire stops here!
oil on board

The name of this place isn't exactly clear to me, its when you are about to go up the pass on the way to Lake Cachuma and there is that "bridge to no where" as some call it. That's where one of the many fires stopped. I think the Jesusita fire might have finally given up at that point. This was one of the Oak Group "paint outs", where we meet to paint and hopefully spread some awareness about an area that is potentially at risk of some kind of bulldozing and/or housing tract. I thought I would find some arrow heads or grinding bowls in the charred earth surrounding me but after over an hour of carefully searching I realized that no one in there right mind would set up camp so far away from either a food or water source. Back to my painting I went, not distracted by waves, trout, or arrowheads.
