Floating Persimmons
oil on canvas

There was an older painting of a sunset at Butterfly beach that I wasn't crazy about.  One day last December I had this urge to paint these persimmons and was out of canvas. I started my recycling project with a loose series of circles marking where I wanted the fruit. I wanted them to be big, filling the canvas. The previous painting didn't turn out so great and I didn't care how the latter ended up either. It started and finished as a carefree exersize. The grays and orange in the sky matched some of the newer painting so I left a bit for background. Creating is often best when there is absolutely no pressure to do well.
