It may take forever but I would like to paint the entire coastline from the water.I've spent a pretty big part of my life looking back towards the land while surfing and its a perspective worth exploring. For this one I paddled a surfboard out into the water with a camera in my teeth. Its rare that I work from photos and I'm actually more opposed to it than I ever admit(except for now of course)but to paint this from a boat wouldn't work for me. I tried it once from the back side of Santa Cruz island and too much mental energy was going into the rocking and swaying and not enough into the application of the paint. So unlike the rest, this painting was done in the studio.
